The Connections Newsletter is one way of keeping you up to date on events and news in the Department of Women & Gender Studies.
The "Connections" 2018 issue includes an article about University of Delaware members of the LGBTQ+ and Racial Activism Living Learning Community, the Visual Arts Living and Learning Community, and student residents from all-gender housing who participated in the design and painting of a mural entitled "Freedom Making" (pictured above). Located in the main lounge of James Smith Hall dorm on UD's North campus, "Freedom Making" is the product of exciting collaborations between Dr. Pascha Bueno-Hansen, Women & Gender Studies Associate Professor and Academic Coordinator for LGBTQ+ and Racial Justice Activism LLC, as well as Global Arts Director Colin Miller, visiting muralist Aurora Sidney-Ando, Residential Life staff, and an amazing group of student artists and activist.
The "Staying Connected" section in our newsletter showcases the range of activities our alumni are engaged in and the exciting projects they are currently pursuing. Quite a few of our alumni drifted into Women & Gender Studies courses by chance but came out with a better understanding of themselves and which direction to take in their lives. We hope that current students feel inspired by these accounts and that these alumni stories encourage students to pursue a major in Women & Gender Studies, a minor in Women & Gender Studies, Domestic Violence Prevention & Services, Sexualities & Gender Studies, or Women in Religion. Students also have the choice to adopt one of our concentrations in Women in Global Perspective or Domestic Violence Prevention & Services.
We love hearing from our alumni and friends and look forward to sharing your stories. Please send updates about your life and career to Jennifer Naccarelli at email@example.com .
